Yves Jarvis has won the 2025 Polaris Music Prize. The psych-pop singer-songwriter won the award for best Canadian album of the year for his February LP, All Cylinders. Mustafa, meanwhile, won the inaugural Polaris Song Prize for his Dunya song “Gaza Is Calling.”

Chosen by a jury of music industry members, the prizes were awarded last night (September 16) at Massey Hall in Toronto. Other nominees in both the album and song categories included Saya Gray, Lou-Adriane Cassidy, and Ribbon Skirt. Jarvis and Mustafa were awarded $30,000 and $10,000 Canadian, respectively, courtesy of the Slaight Family Foundation and the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN).

Last year, Jeremy Dutcher won the Polaris Music Prize for Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa, becoming the award’s first two-time winner since its launch in 2006.
