WhatsApp Launches Dedicated iPad App


WhatsApp has finally launched its long-awaited app for iPad, providing an integrated iPad experience for the world’s most popular messaging app.

Yes, after years of requests, and complaints from iPad users, WhatsApp has finally produced a dedicated iPad version of the platform, designed specifically for the larger device screen.

As explained by WhatsApp:

Bringing all your favorite features to a larger screen, WhatsApp for iPad makes keeping in touch with friends and family even easier. Make video and audio calls with up to 32 people, share your screen, and use both front and back cameras.”

WhatsApp for iPad is also designed for multitasking, with features like Stage Manager (for higher spec iPad moels) and Split View, while it also supports the iPad’s slide over functionality, so you can view multiple apps at once, and send messages while browsing the web, for example.

“WhatsApp for iPad uses our industry leading multi-device technology to keep everything in sync across your iPhone, Mac and other devices while protecting your personal messages, calls and media with end-to-end encryption, no matter what platform or device you’re messaging. Our extra layers of privacy, such as chat lock, mean that you can have private conversations in confidence even if you share your iPad with others.”

So it’ll have full WhatsApp functionality on the iPad, providing more options for engaging in the app, and tapping into more functions on the larger mobile device.

WhatsApp for iPad will also works with the iPad’s Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil utilities.

It’s a welcome update, and with more and more people now switching to WhatsApp for their group chats, it’ll no doubt see a lot of use.

Indeed, WhatsApp has been gaining momentum in the U.S. of late, while also expanding its lead in other markets, and the capacity to tap into those conversations on iPad will open up a lot more opportunities for a lot more people.
