Details have been mum for years about director Christopher Nolan’s upcoming adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey, and the latest surprise is that rapper Travis Scott is apparently part of a cast that also includes Matt Damon, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland, Jon Bernthal and Benny Safdie.
Scott’s role was revealed yesterday (Jan. 25) in a new TV ad for The Oddysey, which hits theaters on July 17. In it, he addresses a mess hall full of soldiers and proclaims, “A war, a man, a trick — a trick to break the walls of Troy and burn it straight into the ground.”
Scott previously wrote “THE PLAN” as the theme song for Nolan’s 2020 film Tenet. The video his song “FRANCHISE” was also screened prior to Imax presentations of the film.
As an actor, Scott has previously appeared in a small role in 2019’s Gully and starred in the experimental 2023 crime drama Aggro Dr1ft. He both starred in and directed Circus Maximus, a 75-minute companion film to his 2023 album UTOPIA.
Scott hasn’t released a proper follow-up to that project, but emerged last year with the second compilation from his JackBoys project, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
