TikTok Announces Programming for AANHPI Heritage Month


TikTok has announced a new set of activations for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, which seems to get a longer, more inclusive title every year.

Naming conventions aside, TikTok has outlined a range of celebratory elements that will be active in the app throughout May, including creator spotlights, IRL events, and more.

First off, TikTok’s looking to highlight AANHPI creators and innovators on via its 2025 “AANHPI Voices to Watch” list.

As per TikTok:

The 2025 AANHPI Voices to Watch list spotlights rising Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander creators and entrepreneurs who are making meaningful contributions to TikTok and in their communities. These standout creators are paving bold paths in fields like entertainment, fashion, wellness, food, beauty, music, film, and more.”

TikTok will showcase their work throughout various surfaces this month, highlighting a range of talented creators and business owners to a broader audience.

On the IRL front, TikTok says that it’s sponsoring the 2025 Gold Gala to honor AANHPI excellence through the A100 List, alongside visionary creators.

TikTok will also seek to recognize the cultural impact and contributions of the AANHPI community through a series of community-led events and collaborations.

“Throughout May, TikTok’s AANHPI employee resource group ARISE will be celebrating by hosting events with live performances featuring AANHPI artists, culinary demos, cultural arts activities, and conversations that spotlight local vendors and traditions. These experiences are designed to celebrate heritage, foster inclusion, and build community at TikTok.”

This is the fifth time that TikTok has run its AANHPI Visionary Voices push, which has helped many creators from these communities gain more exposure and opportunity in the app.

TikTok has played an important role in helping minority voices gain more exposure, which has also made it a more important platform for many of these communities in connecting with audiences. Which will be a loss if TikTok is eventually banned in the U.S., but ideally, TikTok will still be able to arrange a sell-off, and stay in operation for American users.
