TikTok has added an AI-powered chatbot tool into its Seller Center product management platform, which is wholly dedicated to providing information for brands looking to promote and sell products in the app.
TikTok’s “Seller Assistant” is now available within TikTok’s commerce management tools, providing immediate support to help sellers maximize their in-app product displays.
As explained by TikTok:
“Seller Assistant isn’t just a chatbot, it’s a leap forward in how TikTok Shop is supporting its seller community. Designed as an intelligent, self-solving tool, it provides real-time guidance, tailored recommendations, and interactive support that enables sellers to complete time-sensitive tasks with ease.”
Though it is, actually, just an AI chatbot.
The AI-powered tool will be able to provide a range of pointers on your TikTok product listings, including:
- Advice on optimal listing approaches, and tips on how to maximize visibility
- Immediate access to key insights and performance data
- Personalized, context-aware recommendations on marketing approaches
So it could be a handy addition to your TikTok marketing process, though some of the language TikTok has used to describe it…
“With Seller Assistant, we’re taking a bold step toward a future where sellers don’t just manage their shops, they optimize them effortlessly. And this is just the beginning.”
Okay, calm down TikTok, it’s just an assistant tool.
Though it may well end up being a valuable one, as TikTok continues to push its in-stream shopping elements, and drive more users towards buying products from video clips and live-streams.
And while in-app shopping hasn’t caught on in a big way as yet, it is gaining more traction over time.
Last year, for example, TikTok saw a 3x increase in sales on Black Friday, with live-stream sales, in particular, driving significant interest. TikTok’s also says that in 2024, over 100 million creators went live in the app.
The trends do point to opportunity, and if TikTok remains available in the U.S., it could well become a much bigger consideration for shopping over time.
As such, its Seller Assistant could become a much more significant tool, and a much more valuable source of advice for your own in-app product listings.
Seller Assistant is now available in the TikTok Seller Center.
