This is one of those features that, once you see it, you’re like: “Why didn’t they add that before?”
In the latest version of the Threads app, the Threads team has added a new, auto-inserted Thread count to your linked posts, indicating how many posts there are in the full sequence, and where the reader is up to.
As you can see in this screenshot, posted by app researcher Radu Oncescu, now, when you create a multi-post threads, Threads will include a count at the end of each post.
So rather than you having to manually enter “1/3” or similar, Threads will now do it for you, which will make it easier to actually create Threads.
So it’s true to the name of the app, while it’ll even work if you go back to a Thread and add more to it (or take posts out), updating the post count in reflection of your changes.
It’s a good update, which, really, should be an auto-addition for X as well, providing a simple way to improve multi-post threads, and ensure that readers understand that there’s more context.
So it’s a relatively small change, in terms of broader functionality, but a handy one, which will be of benefit.
It’s not available to all users as yet (I tried it and it didn’t work for me), but it looks like it’s coming soon.
We’ve asked the Threads team for more info on this update, and we’ll update this post if/when we hear back.
