Today marks 10 years since the death of Scott Weiland, one of the greatest and most underrated rock ‘n’ rollers of his era. The Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman recorded some solo tracks in his day, including the albums 12 Bar Blues and “Happy” In Galoshes. In honor of today’s anniversary, Weiland’s estate has shared a previously unreleased song.
Weiland wrote “If I Could Fly” in 2000 in response to the birth of his son, Noah, later of the children-of-rock-stars supergroup Suspect208. Noah, as it happens, will be performing a tribute concert in his dad’s honor tonight at Garden Amp in Orange County, with an assist from Jakob Nowell, who recently took over his late father Brad’s old post as frontman for Sublime.

In recognition of Scott’s legacy, ten years after his passing, we’re releasing something truly special for the fans. “If I Could Fly,” a previously unreleased track written in 2000 after the birth of his son, is out today.
This song marks the first unveiling of original, unreleased material from Scott’s archive since his passing. It captures him at a deeply personal and inspired moment, showcasing the emotional depth that defined so much of his work.
