Rooney Mara and Kate Mara are pulling off a sister act in their new film Bucking Fastard.

The real-life sisters are set to star together for the first time in a new feature film written and directed by Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Martian actress, 42, and Carol star, 40, will be taking their sibling bond onscreen as they play twins Jean and Joan Holbrooke, two sisters who are described as being “deeply intertwined.”

The movie is “set in both contemporary urban modernity and against the epic untamed wilds of Ireland” and follows Jean and Joan, “two sisters who are so close to each other that they speak in unison, love the same man, and have the same dreams” and even “make the same slip of tongue in unison,” according to a synopsis.

The synopsis notes that the pair are “in search of an imaginary land, the Orkneys,” which is described as a place “where true love is possible” and “start digging a tunnel through an entire mountain range.”

The film will also star Orlando Bloom and Domhnall Gleeson.

A first-look image of the film shows Kate and Mara clad in white flowing dresses with veils attached to a flower head band.

According to THR, principal photography on the film wrapped in late April.

Kate previously opened up in 2017 about bonding with her sister over acting early in their careers in an interview on ABC News’ Popcorn with Peter Travers.

“So from the time I was 14 [until], I think, my sister started acting when I was 20, 21, I didn’t have someone to share this craziness with,” The Fantastic Four actress shared. “So when she became an actor, we actually lived together in my apartment for the first year or two.”

She said that during that time, they bonded over their auditions — and even negative reviews on their films — which helped unite them.

“We would both go on auditions and come home and talk about the terror of certain auditions and funny stories, and so it just became something super special that you can actually bond with a sibling with which is very rare,” she explained.
