Paul Weller Enlists Robert Plant, Noel Gallagher For Covers LP


Paul Weller gets a lift from Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant and Oasis’ Noel Gallagher on Find El Dorado, a 15-track covers album due for release July 24 from Warner/Parlophone Records. The former Jam and Style Council frontman, who turns 67 next week, worked on the album with producer/Ocean Colour Scene guitarist Steve Cradock. Other guest contributors include Declan O’Rourke, Amelia Coburn and Seckou Keita.

Among the songs featured on Weller’s 18th solo album are the Bee Gees’ “I Started a Joke,” the Flying Burrito Brothers’ “White Line Fever,” folk legend Christy Moore’s “One Last Cold Kiss,” the Kinks’ “Nobody’s Fool” and Richie Havens’ “Handouts in the Rain,” which opens the project.

Plant contributes lead vocals and harmonica to “Clive’s Song,” originally written by Hamish Imlach, while Gallagher plays acoustic guitar on a version of Eamon Friel’s “El Dorado.”
