Orlando Bloom Posts Cryptic Quotes on Instagram After Katy Perry Split

Orlando Bloom is seemingly looking at a “new beginning” following his split from Katy Perry.

The English actor, 48, reposted inspiring quotes on his Instagram Stories on Monday, June 30, days after news broke of his breakup with the pop star, 40. 

Reposting from @taomeditations, Bloom first shared a saying attributed to Gautama Buddha: “Each day is a new beginning. What we do today is what matters most.” He soundtracked the post with James Quinn’s “A Gentle Sunlight.” 

Before reposting a clip from his new Prime Video movie Deep Cover, Bloom shared another simple slide with text reading, “Daily Encouragement by Daisaku Ikeda… The important thing is to take that first step. Bravely overcoming one small fear gives you the courage to take on the next.”

PEOPLE confirmed on June 26 that the couple, who got engaged in 2019, have gone their separate ways.

That same day, Bloom flew solo to Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos‘ wedding. The Lord of the Rings actor was photographed arriving in the Italian city wearing black sportswear, including gym shorts and a workout vest. He was also spotted greeting reality stars Kim and Khloé Kardashian, as well as their mom, Kris Jenner, during his lunch at the Gritti Palace.

Perry and Orlando met at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2016. A few months later, they made their relationship Instagram official after attending the Cannes Film Festival.

The couple split briefly in 2017 after dating for about a year. And then in February 2018, a source told PEOPLE that they were spending time together, but “not necessarily putting a label on it.”

“They are not girlfriend and boyfriend. They do seem very happy together though. Orlando always had the nicest things to say about Katy. He loves spending time with her,” the source said.

Bloom and Perry got engaged in February 2019. The pair announced the following year that they were expecting a baby. The two were set to wed in Japan in summer 2020, but they postponed their nuptials due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In August of 2020, the couple welcomed their baby girl, Daisy Dove. Bloom is also dad to son Flynn, 14, with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

Perry opened up to PEOPLE in January 2025 about navigating her relationship with Bloom while on the road.

“I’ve talked a lot about love languages and how important they are in learning your partner’s love language, and even if it isn’t your love language, tapping into that for them,” the “Hot N Cold” singer said at the time.
