Days ahead of their first concert in 16 years, Oasis have announced a 30th anniversary edition of their beloved 1995 sophomore album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, featuring five freshly created “unplugged” versions of songs from the era. The first, the fan favorite non-album b-side “Acquiesce,” is out now.
Morning Glory will be released Oct. 3 from Oasis’ Big Brother Recordings in two-CD and three-LP formats, all of which feature new artwork by the original album’s sleeve designer, Brian Cannon. The Morning Glory songs will be drawn from a 2014 remaster.

There’s little information about the new recordings of “Acquiesce,” “Cast No Shadow,” “Morning Glory” and “Wonderwall” other than that Noel Gallagher and Callum Marinho “produced and mixed” them “from the original master recordings” at the former’s London studio, Lone Star.
Oasis’ 1994 debut, Definitely Maybe, helped usher in the Britpop revolution and made sudden stars out of colleagues such as Blur, the Verve and Pulp. By the following year’s Morning Glory, Oasis were a full-scale phenomenon of ego and excess, their obnoxious behavior a small price to pay for classic songs such as “Wonderwall,” “Some Might Say” and “Champagne Supernova.” The album sold an astonishing 23 million copies worldwide.
