Nicki Minaj’s MAGA Turn Culminates In Appearance With Erika Kirk At Turning Point Festival

It’s not necessarily surprising that rapper Nicki Minaj has been cuddling up to MAGA, but that doesn’t make it any less unsettling. She’s become more and more vocally supportive of the current White House administration. Today, she was the surprise guest at Turning Points USA’s AmericaFest in Arizona, where she was interviewed by Charlie Kirk’s widow Erika Kirk.

Kirk opened the conversation by mentioning Minaj’s recent social media tirade against California governor Gavin Newsom. Kirk had her reread her tweets attacking Newsom. Then, Minaj went on to share her admiration for Donald Trump and JD Vance.

“I have the utmost respect and admiration for our president,” she said. “I don’t know if he even knows this but he’s given so many people hope that there’s a chance to beat the bad guys and to win and to do it with you head held high and your integrity intact.” She then talked about Trump’s resilience as a public figure. “This administration is full of people with heart and soul. They make me proud of them,” she added.

Why does she love Trump and Vance? “Both of them have a very uncanny ability to be someone that you relate to. I can relate to them. When I hear them speak, I know that they’re one of us.” (Earlier this month, the Vice President tweeted, “Nicki>Cardi.”)

Kirk also asked about why it’s controversial for people to speak their minds today, and Minaj replied that “people are no longer using their minds, their brains.” The rapper dismissed the notion of backlash from Barbs, claiming she and other conservative activists are “the cool kids.” Minaj also discussed the violence going on in Nigeria, which has been a main talking point of hers lately.

There was only one sort of interesting part, and that’s when Minaj accidentally referred to JD Vance as an assassin. “Young men, you have amazing role models like our handsome, dashing president,” she said, “and you have amazing role models like the assassin JD Vance, our vice president.” It took her less than ten seconds to realize she said something weird, if not insensitive since Kirk’s husband was killed by a gunman. Erika Kirk laughed it off and talked about the beauty in that moment. “I love this woman,” she said, “She is an amazing woman. She has a soul and heart for the Lord. Words are words, but I know her heart. It doesn’t even matter. You say what you want to say because I know your heart.”

This appearance comes a month after Nicki Minaj thanked Trump for posting about violence against Christians in Nigeria. Trump claimed that there’s been a mass slaughtering of Christians, which is a gross misrepresentation of the violence happening in Nigeria. In reality both Christians and Muslims are being murdered in the country due to terrorist attacks. The BBC noted that majority of attacks take place in the north, which is home mostly to Muslims. Minaj went on to give a speech at the UN about it.

Minaj’s previous attempt to cozy up to the White House was not as successful. During Joe Biden’s presidency, the rapper falsely claimed that the administration invited her over to discuss vaccinations after she famously tweeted that the COVID-19 vaccine made her cousin’s friend’s testicles swollen.
