Metallica are the latest musicians to team with Apple Vision Pro for the Friday (March 14) release of a mini self-titled concert film. The project was filmed in Mexico City in September 2024 and includes renditions of “Whiplash,” “One” and “Enter Sandman” shot in Apple Immersive Video.
To do so, Apple set up 14 Immersive Video cameras throughout Estadio GNP Seguros to provide multiple angles and vantage points. Interested parties can demo Apple Vision Pro and sample the “Whiplash” performance at local Apple stores. Apple Music will also release the M72 World Tour: Mexico City EP in Spatial Audio on Friday.

As previously reported, U2 frontman Bono’s documentary Stories of Surrender will be premiere on May 30 on Apple Vision Pro, making it the first full-length feature film to be available in Apple Immersive Video. Viewers will experience a 180-degree video approximating what it would have been like to be on stage with Bono during his 40 Songs, One Story performances from recent years.
Other upcoming Immersive Video endeavors include new episodes of the outdoor sports-themed Adventure and Boundless series and VIP: Yankee Stadium, the latter of which premieres April 4.
Metallica return to the road April 19 in Syracuse, N.Y. The group will also be on hand for Black Sabbath’s final performance on July 5 in Birmingham, England.
