Mandy Moore Is ‘Looking Forward to Rebuilding’ After Losing Home to L.A. Fires

Mandy Moore may have lost her Altadena, Calif., home in January’s Eaton Fire, but she is now ready to rebuild.

In a since-expired Instagram Stories post, Moore, 40, shared a post by her interior designer, Sarah Sherman Samuel, which features photographs of the guest house kitchen that was once a part of Moore’s home.

Moore and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, were renovating their property at the time of the fire. According to an Instagram post from fellow designer Emily Farnham, the kitchen had just been completed in December 2024.

Samuel shared in her post that “the guest house kitchen at our #moorespanishrevival project was such a fun one to dream up” but “unfortunately the building was lost to the fires.”

Following the January fire, Samuel said they only had “these few unstyled iPhone snaps from when I visited to do a final punch list a few weeks before, which don’t do this cheery kitchen justice.”

The photos showed the redesigned kitchen, which once featured paintable modern beaded cabinets from Samuel’s line for Semihandmade and a vintage table and stools.

Samuel wrote that she is thankful that Moore and Goldsmith “have found a place to land and the plans to rebuild are already in the works.”

“I don’t think we will change a thing…,” she noted.

While sharing Samuel’s post, Moore echoed similar sentiments, writing, “I miss this space and our home and Altadena immensely so I’m looking forward to rebuilding version 2.0 with @sarahshermansamuel, @emilyfarnhamarchitecture and @bronstruction.”

Although the mom of three had shared with her social media followers on Jan. 9 that “miraculously” the “main part” of the house was “still standing” following the fire, she said on Feb. 11 that “the contents of our home are a near total loss” due to its proximity to the fires and other burning structures.

“Pretty much everything will have to be disposed of…maybe even the walls too. We won’t be there for a very long time as it and the neighborhood itself get sorted out and cleaned and the rebuilding starts,” she told her followers.

Reflecting on when they discovered the Altadena home in the summer of 2020, Moore further added that they “were weeks away from finally being done with everything when the fires hit.”
