Madonna Shares Important Update Regarding Her and Elton John’s Relationship

Madonna and Elton John have finally put their differences behind them, ending a decades-long feud.

On Monday, April 7, Madonna, 66, shared a photo on Instagram, showing her hugging the legendary “Rocket Man” singer backstage at Saturday Night Live over the weekend.

More from Spin:

“We Finally Buried the Hatchet!!!” she began her lengthy caption. “Seeing him perform when I was in high school changed the course of my life… Over the decades it hurt me to know that someone I admired so much shared his dislike of me publicly as an artist,” the “Like a Virgin” hitmaker admitted.

“I was told Elton John was the musical guest on SNL and I decided to go. When I met him, the first thing out of his mouth was, ‘Forgive Me; and the wall between us fell down… Then he told me had written a song for me and he wanted to collaborate,” Madonna also revealed in the caption.
John, 78, commented on Madonna’s post. “Thank you for coming to see me at SNL. And thank you for forgiving me and my big mouth,” he started off his reply. “I’m grateful we can move forward. 🙏🏻🚀I’m increasingly distressed by all the divisiveness in our world at the moment.”

The two icons’ conflict began in 2002 when John criticized her song “Die Another Day” as “the worst Bond tune ever.” Over the years, their tension grew, with both throwing jabs at each other, including a public spat over the 2012 Golden Globes.
