Looking to post video to LinkedIn, and tap into rising video engagement in the app?
You probably should be. LinkedIn recently reported that video watch time rose 36% year-over-year in 2024, while video content also generates 1.4x more engagement than other formats.
Short-form video creation is growing at twice the rate of other post formats, and with LinkedIn’s immersive video feed helping to drive compulsive viewing, it could be another means to expand your messaging in the app.
And if you are looking to get more out of your video content in the app, then these new notes and tips from LinkedIn should help.
LinkedIn recently shared a full overview of video specs in the app, as well as a guide to video safe zones to avoid having your content obscured by UI buttons in-stream.
For reference:
- Maximum file size: 5 GB
- Minimum file size: 75 KB
- Maximum video duration: 15 minutes
- Minimum video duration: 3 seconds when uploading from desktop and 2 seconds when uploading from the LinkedIn mobile app.
- Resolution range: 256×144 to 4096×2304
Aspect ratio: 1:2.4 – 2.4:1 - Frame rates: 10fps – 60 fps
- Bit rates: 192 Kbps – 30 Mbps
LinkedIn also notes that it’s not currently possible to directly add or post videos to the immersive video feed.
“The immersive video feed features content based on the quality and relevance of existing videos on LinkedIn.”
So you can’t actually post direct to that stream, like you can on other apps, but posting videos that align with the above specifications will help to ensure maximize exposure potential for your clips.
It could be a valuable addition to your LinkedIn content approach, and an important way to reach a bigger audience in the app.
