Lil Nas X appeared in a Los Angeles-area courtroom to address his battery arrest.
On Monday, November 17, the rapper, 26, (whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill) showed up to court wearing a brown leather jacket, beige pants and cowboy boots.
While the judge ultimately postponed the hearing until March 2026, Lil Nas X’s attorney Drew Findling shared a brief update outside the courtroom.
“As you can see, Montero is doing amazing, doing great and we are super happy for him,” Findling told Us Weekly and other reporters. “We’re just looking forward to a positive resolution in this case, which we’re very confident of.”
In the early hours of August 21, Los Angeles police officers responded to a call about a “nude man walking in the street” before 6 a.m. that morning.
While authorities initially declined to name Lil Nas X directly as the suspect, TMZ later reported the rapper was transported to a local hospital and treated for a suspected overdose before he was formally booked.
The Grammy winner was ultimately charged with four felonies, including battery with injury on a police officer and resisting an executive officer, on August 25. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
“You girl is going to be OK, y’all,” he told his followers on August 26 when addressing the arrest for the first time. “She’s going to be alright. She’s going to be alright. S***. That was f***ing terrifying. That was terrifying. That was a terrifying last four days, but your girl is going to be alright.”
One month after his arrest, Lil Nas X sought care at an undisclosed facility outside of California, his lawyer confirmed at a court hearing via Rolling Stone.
“Defendant is allowed to remain out of state as long as he remains in treatment,” Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Shellie Samuels said, noting that if Lil Nas X’s “treatment changes and he becomes outpatient, then we’ll talk.”
Outside the courthouse, Lil Nas X’s attorney provided more guidance on what the “Old Town Road” singer was focusing on after his arrest.
“You heard the ‘treatment’ word. We’re doing what is best for Montero from a personal standpoint and a professional standpoint, but most importantly, for his well-being,” Findling — who previously represented President Donald Trump in an investigation into alleged election interference — said outside the courthouse, as seen in a video shared via X. “He is surrounded by an amazing family, an amazing team of people that care about him and love him. And we’re just addressing those issues. It’s really as simple as that. He’s had a great life, and he’ll continue to have a great life. This is a bump that he’s going to get over.”
Back in February, Lil Nas X told his followers that the past few years have been “pretty difficult.”
Despite hit singles and touring around the world, the rapper hinted that he wasn’t feeling his best.
“I’m just now arriving to this place of feeling confidence in myself and what I’m doing, and I’m trying to make sure I put intention towards my music and my vision and the creativity of it all,” he said via X. “Most of all, I really want to make sure I have fun this time around.”
