Music producer and DJ Jorge Duarte, better known as Jörgen, releases his first single, “Montañas Oscuras,” for SPIN Records today (August 1), available across all streaming platforms.
“‘Montañas Oscuras’ was born out of pure inspiration,” says Jörgen. “After attending Skyline Festival in Los Angeles in 2025, where Marco Carola and the Martinez Brothers delivered unforgettable sets, I went home buzzing with ideas. I woke up the next morning with my laptop by my side and the rhythm of the previous night still fresh in my mind. That energy became the foundation of a percussion-driven groove that would evolve into this track.”
Originally from Barranquilla, Colombia, Jörgen grew up in a family of entrepreneurs who always encouraged him to travel and have experiences. As a child, he trained in classical piano, guitar, and French horn.
After attending Boston’s Northeastern University with a focus on banking and technology, he went to Reykjavik, Iceland. There, he fell in love with electronic music and became deeply involved in music production. Currently based in Los Angeles, Jörgen’s sound is a fusion of his European and Latin roots. His productions are tailored for the dance floor, with a global perspective that has garnered support from DJs such as Leandro Da Silva, Tom & Collins, Westend, and Tita Lau.
“Montañas Oscuras” follows Jörgen’s 2024 Latin house single, “La Flauta,” which gained widespread recognition with the help of DJ Felix Cartal, who played it during his 2025 tour.

For his new single, Jörgen says he wanted to dig deeper into his roots, drawing from his time in a Colombian orchestra, where he played Latin music on the French horn. “I layered brass samples to create a bold, dynamic arrangement that feels alive on the dance floor.”
The track came together almost spontaneously, finalized while he was pregaming for the second day of Skyline. Jörgen has played the song at shows in Los Angeles and Miami and got an incredible crowd response, he says.

“Montañas Oscuras” isn’t just a standalone single, however; it’s the opening chapter of his debut project, LIBRE. “This song sets the tone for a project that blends my past influences with forward-thinking, 2025-ready production,” he says. “‘Montañas Oscuras’ felt like the perfect way to start this journey.”
In 2024, Jörgen performed at SXSW (for SPIN), Miami Music Week, and Beyond Wonderland SoCal. He’s released music on labels such as Black Lizard, Magnifico (Under Warner Brazil), and Terms & Conditions, and co-founded his own label and event series called This Is Dance Music.
