Joan Shelley Announces New Album Real Warmth, Shares New Song “Everybody”: Listen

Joan Shelley has announced a new album: Real Warmth is out September 19 via No Quarter. The Kentucky songwriter’s follow up to 2022’s The Spur was produced by Ben Whiteley and features contributions from the Weather Station’s Tamara Lindeman, Doug Paisley, Nathan Salsburg, Matt Kelley, Ken Whiteley, drummer Philippe Melanson, and saxophonist Karen Ng. Listen to lead single “Everybody” below.

“We had a few windows in mid-winter and it really felt like there was an urgency to capture a moment in time with these songs, performances, people involved, and against the political backdrop,” Whiteley shared in a press statement. “The record really feels like a capture instead of a meticulous construction. Part of Joan’s concept was not only to go to a place but to draw on the community of musicians from that place.”

Last year, Shelley shared an EP titled Mood Ring. She’s set to embark on a brief tour of North America in the autumn. The run of dates kicks off October 16 at Toronto, Ontario’s Monarch Tavern and wraps up November 2 at the Whirling Tiger in Louisville, Kentucky. Find her schedule below.
