Japanese Breakfast’s ‘Baby’ Arrives In ‘Materialists’

Japanese Breakfast has contributed the new original song “My Baby (Got Nothing At All)” to the Celine Song-directed romantic comedy Materialists, which stars Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans and opens Friday (June 13) in U.S. theaters. A24 Music will release an accompanying soundtrack that day.

The score was written by Daniel Pemberton, who is best-known for his work on Slow Horses and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The soundtrack will also include covers of the Velvet Underground and Nico’s “I’ll Be Your Mirror” and Nat King Cole’s “That’s All” by singer Baby Rose, who also appears in the movie.

More from Spin:

Materialists is the follow-up to Song’s 2023 film Past Lives, which was nominated for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay Academy Awards.

Japanese Breakfast’s Michelle Zauner is presently on tour on Asia in support of her latest album, For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women), and will play a handful of U.S. and European gigs through July. A proper North American headlining tour gets underway Aug. 20 in San Diego.
