Isla Fisher Talks Post-Divorce Career Focus Following Tough Split

Isla Fisher is prioritizing her professional goals following her divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen.

“I’ve had a tough couple of years, but I’m making it through,” the actress, 49, said in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar published on Thursday, July 31. “I’m really excited for the next chapter.”

Fisher added that during that time, her main priority was her three kids — but now she’s ready to get back to work.

“I’m refocusing on my career, because previously I was very much focused on my kids, which I still am, obviously, because [they’re] my true love,” she told the outlet. “But I’m enjoying tackling work again.”

Isla Fisher is learning how to navigate a new normal since separating from her estranged husband, Sacha Baron Cohen. “It’s the most difficult thing that I’ve been through and I’ve learnt so much about myself in the process,” Fisher, 49, told The Times of London of the split in a profile published on Saturday, February […]

Fisher has multiple movies in the works, including the upcoming comedy Spa Weekend and Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, which will hit theaters on November 14, 2025.

“That’s been one of the benefits of a challenging situation: the luxury of asking myself, ‘What would I like to do professionally and privately?’ I’m trying to remind myself of my new identity as somebody outside of a partnership and to stay as buoyant as possible,” she continued. “Any time there’s change, it’s hard to adapt. But hopefully I’m doing an OK job.”

In April 2024, Fisher and Cohen, 53, announced that they had separated the year before.

“After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down,” the pair’s joint Instagram statement read at the time. “In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritized our privacy and have been quietly working through this change. We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”

More than one year later, Fisher and Cohen, who have remained amicable since their split, announced via social media that they finalized their divorce.

“Our divorce has now been finalised. We are proud of all we’ve achieved together and, continuing our great respect for each other, we remain friends and committed to coparenting our wonderful children,” the statement read. “We ask for the media to continue to respect our children’s privacy.”

Earlier this month, Fisher and Cohen both attended Wimbledon. After an article from The Daily Mail claimed that the exes “narrowly” missed each other, the actress took to social media to poke fun at the situation.
