‘Instant’ Karma: Stereolab Are Back With New Album

Following their 2019 live reunion after a 10-year break, Stereolab finally have new music to share. The beloved U.K. group will release Instant Holograms on Metal Film on May 23 through Duophonic/Warp, with first single “Aerial Troubles” out now in tandem with a Laurent Askienazy-directed video.

That song was sent as a surprise seven-inch vinyl single to fans last week in tandem with a word search loaded with details about Instant Holograms. The album is Stereolab’s first of all-new material since 2008’s Chemical Chords, although a second project featuring songs from those sessions, Not Music, was released in 2010.

More from Spin:

Instant Holograms sports appearances by Ben LaMar Gay, Ric Elsworth, Cavern Of Anti-Matter’s Holger Zapf, Marie Merlet and Molly Read, as well as Bitchin Bajas’ Cooper Crain, who also served as the recording engineer.

Having been off the road since November 2023, Stereolab will be back in action starting May 24 in Dover, England, and will be in Europe through July 11 in Cagliari, Italy. A North American leg gets underway Sept. 13 in Nashville and runs through Nov. 2 in Dallas. Shows in Latin America and the U.K. will round out the year.
