Future debuted a dramatically different look at the 2025 Met Gala tonight when he attended the fashionable affair without his signature dreadlocks.
Future Cuts Off All His Dreads
The annual Met Gala is a place for rappers to get their freshest ’fits off, but this year, Future decided to go a step further to make a statement with his hair. On Monday night (May 5), the 41-year-old Atlanta native dressed up for the Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, where the celebration of Black dandyism was underway. When Future hit the blue carpet, his tartan grey ensemble, which he put together with a white button-down shirt, black tie and black leather gloves, was overshadowed by the hairstyle he debuted.
Gone were the dreads Future has been rocking since his “Tony Montana” days; in their place appeared a much shorter, blond ’do. The rapper’s appearance received mixed reactions across social media from confused critics and supportive fans. Some people thought Future was wearing a wig while others compared him to comedian Wanda Sykes, who wears a similar hairstyle. Even more were in disbelief.
“There’s gotta be more to this story man… I refuse to believe future just woke up and did that lol bro gotta have a reason,” an X user wrote.
“That better be a wig cause wtf bro!?!?!” another tweeted.
“Has he lost his damn mind? Nah this can’t be the same person who gave us March madness and codeine crazy!” someone else added.
There was some positive energy despite all the flaming going on though. “Hair and pants are a vibe,” “He looks so cute to me” and “Love the hair” were a few of the comments showing Future love.
