Any movie fan who grew up in the ’90s knows Haley Joel Osment. But the 37-year-old Sixth Sense icon made headlines this month for something a lot less Oscar-worthy.
On Tuesday, April 8, Osment was arrested at Mammoth Mountain ski resort in California for public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance — which the Mono County DA later confirmed to The Times was cocaine.

Bodycam footage from the incident, shared by TMZ, shows the Forrest Gump actor agitated, uncooperative, and using antisemitic slurs while being taken into custody.
“I’m absolutely horrified by my behavior,” Osment said in a statement on Thursday, April 17. “Had I known I used this disgraceful language in the throes of a blackout, I would have spoken up sooner.”
The Tusk star, who was among thousands who lost their homes in January’s Eaton Fire in Altadena, said he’s been in a dark place.
“The past few months of loss and displacement have broken me down to a very low emotional place,” Osment continued. “But that’s no excuse for using this disgusting word. From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to absolutely everyone that this hurts.”
Wrapping up his apology, Osment added, “What came out of my mouth was nonsensical garbage — I’ve let the Jewish community down and it devastates me. I don’t ask for anyone’s forgiveness, but I promise to atone for my terrible mistake.”
In the arrest footage, Osment can be heard yelling “I’m being attacked,” refusing to give his name, and telling police, “I’m an American.” At one point, the award-winning actor is heard saying, “You’re f***ing with my life” and calling an officer a slur.
Osment was charged with possession of cocaine and disorderly conduct — his arraignment is set for June 7.
