FKA twigs, Sturgill Simpson and Will Oldham are acting in the upcoming film The Lonely Woman, which stars Chloë Sevigny and will serve as the first feature directed by electronic duo Boy Harsher (Jae Matthews and Augustus Muller).
Per Deadline, the movie has wrapped filming in upstate New York and will premiere sometime next year. Boy Harsher also wrote the score for The Lonely Woman, which is described as a “bleak, sensual and atmospheric horror-thriller.” In it, a woman mourning her husband’s death confronts “a seductive and terrifying presence buried beneath the town.”
Boy Harsher’s directorial debut was the 2022 short The Runner, for which they also penned the score. The duo has also written the music for the films Machine Learning Experiments, My Animal and Cellulosed Bodies.
FKA twigs recently starred alongside Nicolas Cage in the thriller The Carpenter’s Son and has also completed work on Mother Mary, which features Anne Hathaway. Simpson is also no stranger to the big screen, having acted in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon and on HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones.
Of the musicians in the cast, Oldham has by far the most experience, having debuted in John Sayles’ 1987 film Matewan as a teenager and subsequently appearing in Julien Donkey-Boy, Junebug, Old Joy, Wonder Showzen and Jackass 3D.
