“It’s distressing. You get emotional, but you have to get used to it because I’m lucky to have the life I have. I still have my wonderful family, and I can still see something out of [my left eye]. So you say to yourself, ‘Just get on with it,’” John, 78, shared.
John has been with his husband David Furnish since 2014, with whom he shares two sons, Zachary, 14, and Elijah, 12, with. The “Rocket Man” hitmaker has been dealing with significant vision loss since an eye infection in 2024. “I had an infection in the South of France,” John explained during an interview on Good Morning America in November 2024. “It’s been four months since I haven’t been able to see, and my left eye’s not the greatest. I’m kind of stuck in the moment.”
Despite the obstacles, John is still moving forward. His latest album, Who Believes in Angels?, a collaboration with Brandi Carlile, released on Friday, April 4.
