Diddy Trial Opens With Fame Factor in Jury Screening

There’s no way out for Diddy, whose sex trafficking trial started today with jury selection after he rejected a plea offer last week. Potential jurors were reportedly queried about several celebrities who might be mentioned during the trial.

Celebrities Who Could Be Mentioned During Diddy Trial

On Monday (May 5), over 100 New Yorkers were summoned to New York federal court in Manhattan for potential jury duty in the widely publicized case. The attendees were asked to fill out a questionnaire about their knowledge of the case, which included the names of dozens of celebrities, according to Variety. The questionnaire included over 190 names of celebrities and public figures whom potential jurors were asked to identify.

The names include Ye, Kid Cudi, actors Michael B. Jordan and Michael Myers, actress Lauren London, singer Dawn Richard, Dallas Austin and several of Puff’s family members.

Diddy was accused of having something to do with blowing up Kid Cudi’s car in a 2023 lawsuit. Dawn Richard sued Diddy for sexual assault last September. It is unclear why the other names are mentioned or if they will be brought up during the trial.

Media Circus Outside Diddy Trial

The highly anticipated Diddy trial is finally beginning, eight months after he was arrested and charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. The trial has caused a frenzy outside the Lower Manhattan courthouse, with people waiting in line since Sunday (May 4).

TMZ obtained video of the lengthy line outside the Manhattan federal courthouse and talked to some of the people being paid to hold spots in line for media members. One woman claimed she’d been holding someone’s spot in line since around 9 p.m. yesterday. Another man claimed he had been in line since midnight and was receiving $32 an hour to hold a spot.

Twelve jurors and six alternates will be chosen to try the case, which is slated to begin on May 12. Diddy is facing life in prison if found guilty.
