Demi Moore did not need to take The Substance to sweep this award season.
In fact, the actress turned heads on the red carpet at the 2025 Oscars, where she is nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role, while wearing a custom silver Armani Privé dress with a plunging neckline. (See all the stars at the ceremony here.)
Heading into the awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre, hosted by Conan O’Brien, Demi is up against fellow Best Actress in a Leading Role award nominees including Fernanda Torres (I’m Still Here), Karla Sofia Gascón (Emilia Pérez), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked) and Mikey Madison (Anora).
Indeed, the Ghost actress has taken the award season by storm with her role as an aging Hollywood starlet willing to do anything to retain her youth—and career in the spotlight—in The Substance, earning both a Golden Globe and SAG Award so far.
And as she’s achieved the biggest accolades of her lengthy career in recent months, Demi has also looked back on where it all began and what this journey has meant for her. “It was in 1978,” she noted of getting her SAG card at the SAG Awards Feb. 23. “I was 15, almost 16, and it changed my life because it gave me meaning.”
