Cynthia Erivo is ready to emcee Broadway’s biggest night.
The Wicked actress, 38, will host the 2025 Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on on Sunday, June 8, the American Theatre Wing and the Broadway League announced on Feb. 19.
“I am so proud and excited to take on this glorious honor,” Erivo said in a statement. “I am looking forward to ushering the theater community at large through a night that celebrates the wonderful performances we have witnessed throughout the year. I hope I can rise to the occasion.”
Heather Hitchens, president and CEO of the American Theater Wing, and Jason Laks, president of the Broadway League, added in a statement, “Through performances on both stage and screen, Cynthia has extended the magic of musical theater to millions of new fans around the globe — and that is exactly the mission of the Tony Awards.”

“Her talent defies gravity and boundaries, and we are beyond thrilled to welcome her home to Broadway for what will be a joyful and inspiring celebration of the theatrical artform,” they said. “We hope audiences are ready to leap to their feet, cry tears of joy, and maybe even get up and dance.”
Ariana DeBose hosted the ceremony the previous three years. The star, 34, told PEOPLE in June 2024, “I am really craving being back on stage in a larger way than simply hosting the Tonys. And for that reason, this will probably be one of the last times I host for a while, so someone else can hold the ropes.”

This year’s Tony nominations will be announced on Thursday, May 1. The 78 annual Tony Awards will be broadcast live on Sunday, June 8, from 8 to 11 p.m. EST on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S.
Erivo is a Tony, Grammy and Emmy winner who is up for Best Actress at this year’s Oscars for her performance in Wicked alongside Ariana Grande. It was announced Feb. 18 that she will headline the Hollywood Bowl’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar in the role of Jesus in August, and she has been cast in the highly anticipated film adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone.
