Blondshell started rolling out If You Asked For A Picture way back in January, and the album dropped in May. Now, she’s taking the album campaign nearly wall-to-wall with an expanded edition called Another Picture. Out today, the new release has one new song, one live track recorded in a Vevo session, two reworks featuring John Glacier and Gigi Perez, and three covers by Conor Oberst, Folk Bitch Trio, and Samia. That’s quite the spread!
The new original is called “Berlin TV Tower,” and Sabrina Teitelbaum offered this statement on it:
This is the fastest song I’ve ever written. I was in Berlin and I love that city so much. I was walking around and just writing things down that I saw. It’s a little bit about the city but mostly it’s about being alone and being okay with that for once. Also, I love the idea that you can start and stop and restart things whenever you want… in that way I guess it’s really just a song about having agency.
However, we are focusing our attention today on Oberst’s cover of “Event Of A Fire,” which succeeds in making Blondshell’s songwriting feel like Bright Eyes. You can hear the cover and the original below, where we’ve also inserted the whole dang deluxe.
Another Picture is out now via Partisan.
