Conan O’Brien Comments On Kendrick Lamar And Drake Feud at the Oscars

Conan O’Brien is still hip with what is happening in pop culture, and he has some thoughts on the ongoing feud between rappers Kendrick Lamar and Drake.

O’Brien, 61, hosted the 2025 Oscars awards ceremony on Sunday, March 2. The comedian made jokes throughout the show and one stood out.

More from Spin:

“We’re halfway through the show,” he noted before joking, “which means it’s time for Kendrick Lamar to come out and call Drake a pedophile.”

O’Brien took a moment before he smiled and said, “Don’t worry, I’m lawyered up.”

The host was referring to Lamar’s recent halftime performance at the 2025 Super Bowl, where he rapped his Grammy Award-winning hit, “Not Like Us.” The song notoriously has a line in which the Los Angeles native calls out Drake’s album and raps, “Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophile.” The song also has a lyric that reads, “Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A minor.”

Lamar, 37, has been locked in a smoldering feud with the 38-year-old Toronto rapper since 2013, after he dissed Drake in a verse on Big Sean’s “Control.”

The dispute most recently erupted in 2024 when both rappers released multiple diss tracks about each other, including titles like “Push Ups” and “Family Matters” from Drake and “Euphoria” and “Not Like Us” from Lamar.

The “God’s Plan” rapper is reportedly in an ongoing lawsuit against Universal Music Group—his and Lamar’s record label—for allegedly making and distributing “Not Like Us,” a defamatory song.
