Chrissy Metz is stepping into a powerful new season of life — one that’s grounded in self-love, wisdom and confidence.
The Hunting Wives star, 44, opened up about her health journey in a new interview, revealing that she has incorporated strength training and meal prepping into her routine to improve her overall well-being.
“I want to live the longest life possible,” Metz told People in an article published on Wednesday, August 13, noting that she just wants to be “health positive” and feel her best.
“I know skinniness doesn’t equal happiness,” the This Is Us alum explained. “I never said I wanted to be the face of body-positivity. It’s not that I condone morbid obesity or heroin chic. I condone a healthy body.”
Metz also reflected on her younger years, explaining how she transformed what once felt like isolation into a source of strength. “I was always the chubby girl, and I was also sort of the only one,” she shared, adding, “Food was always my thing.”

She went on to detail her rise to fame and how she made her mark in the acting biz after relocating to Hollywood from Florida.
“I wanted to be the female Jim Carrey,” she shared about her goals. “Every single role was for a tall, skinny blonde … Plus-size girls were either the butt of the joke or couldn’t be attractive. One director told me I was ‘too cute’ to play the side chick.”
Metz notably captivated audiences with her breakout role as Kate Pearson on This Is Us, for which she earned an Emmy nomination, bringing raw emotion and authenticity to the show in a way that resonated deeply with viewers.
The Breakthrough actress left behind city life in L.A. in 2020 and has resided in Nashville ever since — and now, she is head over heels in love with an electric engineer, whose name she wants to keep private.
“I’m like, this relationship makes me feel good about myself?” Metz playfully shared about her beau of one year, adding, “What’s the catch?” She gushed, “He’s so supportive and so kind.”
These days, she’s continuing to secure gigs that have “nothing to do with pant size” including The Hunting Wives and a new untitled drama opposite Liev Schreiber.
