Busch Light Giving 19 Years’ of Beer to Consumers Who Legally Change Their Name

What’s in a name?

Busch Light is currently running a seasonal campaign, where one fan who legally changes their name to Hunter will score “enough beer money to stock up on 19 years’ worth of Busch Light Hunting Cans,” the company said in a press release.

According to Busch Light, Hunter, “a once coveted name, is now in endangered territory, as its popularity has plummeted by 93% over the past five years.”

Because of this, the alcoholic beverage brand will cover the fees and paperwork for fans to officially change their moniker.

“That’s what we call the spirit of the hunt,” Busch Light teased.

From now through Oct. 13, fans who actually go through with changing their name to Hunter can post proof that they’ve legally done so on Busch Light’s social media pages, using the hashtags #BecomeAHunter and #Sweepstakes.

“At Busch Light, we know hunters are dedicated, passionate and always up for the thrill of the chase. Our dedication to our fans is no different, so we’re celebrating our shared love for the great outdoors with not only new Busch Light Hunting Cans, but also a hunt for fans who’d honor the sport by changing their name,” Krystyn Stowe, the Head of Marketing at Busch Family & Natural Family, Anheuser-Busch, said in a statement.

“We’ve always met our fans where they already are, like at post-hunt celebrations with cold, smooth Busch Light,” she continued. “It’s how we’ve become the No. 1 top-selling beer brand in many of the most popular hunting states, including Arkansas, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.”

Busch Light will continue to celebrate its love of Hunters with a private gathering in Appleton, Wis., on Nov. 16, during which there will be merch giveaways, fan-favorite hunting games and an appearance from the brand’s mascot: the Busch Guy.

From now to Oct. 27, fans 21 years of age and older who are named Hunter or are open to changing their name — or are just authentic hunting lovers or those who just love Busch Light — can RSVP to the event.
