Brooks Nader is ready for the holidays at her new Los Angeles home!

PEOPLE got an exclusive first look inside the Love Thy Nader star’s new abode, where the Louisiana-born model, 28, opened up about the design style of her L.A. home and how she’s adjusting to a bicoastal lifestyle between California and New York City, where her sisters Mary Holland, Grace Ann and Sarah Jane also live.

“The L.A. house is a lot more modern and a little sleeker because the palm trees and the sun speaks for itself,” Brooks tells PEOPLE during a chat about her new Samsung SmartThings partnership. It’s quite the contrast from her place in New York, which she describes as very “old school and decadent” with a “modern twist.”

Inside the space, a serene, neutral color palette adorns the interiors, with light wood floors, white walls, and cream-colored furniture. In the living area, massive glass doors look out to the property’s surrounding lush greenery.

Brooks notes that it has always been a “goal” for her and her sisters to live in L.A. one day.

“We’ve always loved L.A. We’re the Beverly Hillbillies when we’re here, so obviously I had to get a place in Beverly Hills,” she jokes. “And it’s just been a goal of mine forever.”

While her house leans more modern, she decided to go with a more “traditional” style for her holiday decor this year, and notes it’s almost “Ralph Lauren-y,” referring to the viral Ralph Lauren Christmas trend

Her towering Christmas tree features red, silver and gold ornaments of different shapes and sizes, while dark red bows are scattered throughout the evergreen.

Brooks says she almost passed on the bow-shaped accessories because they “triggered me a little bit to my Southern childhood,” she explains, adding, “my mom would literally rip our hair out and put them in huge bows.”

“I had a flashback and I was like, ‘Take the bows out.’ But now that I’m really looking at them, I kind of love them, and it’s a little nostalgic from our church days,” she adds.

Brooks tells PEOPLE she’s excited to enjoy the holiday season at her new home in L.A. with her sisters, who are also her Love Thy Nader costars, and her parents, especially after the Freeform series was renewed for season 2

“This house in L.A. is so special, and we’re going to be spending the holidays here,” she explains. “We’re from the South, so we are addicted to the sun and the heat. We don’t do well with the cold. Southern belles don’t thrive in the cold.”

Some of her favorite activities to do with her family in the city include “a lot of walking, a lot of beaching — just a lot of time in nature when we’re in L.A.,” she says.

Brooks tells PEOPLE she’s especially loving her holiday decor this year thanks to Samsung SmartThings, which makes it easy for her to “just pop on my Christmas lights” via the app from a remote location.

SmartThings app users will also be able to discover Brooks’ holiday routines, and explore other ways they can transform their own home with the brand’s products this holiday season.

Brooks — whose products in her own home include the Samsung Music Frame, the Bespoke AI Frontload Washer and Dryer and the Frame TV Pro, to name a few — says the SmartThings setup is her “newest little life hack.”

“If I’m having people over in five minutes, I can just click something in SmartThings, and the TV is on my perfect little photo, the music is playing,” she explains. “Everything is just how I want it, which I love because I feel like it used to take me at least 30 minutes just to go around and do all the things.”
