Band Of Horses Find ‘Time’ To Revisit Beloved Debut LP

Band Of Horses’ beloved 2006 Sub Pop debut, Everything All the Time, will be bolstered with rare and unreleased tracks for its 20th anniversary edition, which will be out March 20 from Sub Pop. They include the group’s hard-to-find 2005 Tour EP, demos and its contribution to The O.C., “The End’s Not Near.”

The first song to emerge from the set is a studio version of the early live favorite “(Biding Time Is a) Boat To Row,” along with a video directed by Cape Films’ James Ayling and starring Daisy Jones & the Six’s Josh Whitehouse. See it below.

“I’ve always believed that albums need to feel special and should transcend the recording process,” says Everything All the Time producer Phil Ek, who remastered the album for the upcoming edition. “I want records that I produce to feel like you can walk into them, to have a three-dimensional depth. The music should stay as fresh and exciting as the first time you heard it. Achieving this requires a lot of time, trust and effort in the studio, but it pays off in the end. Twenty years on, I still think Everything All the Time exemplifies this fully.”

A pillar of 2000s-era American indie rock that eventually sold more than 500,000 copies, Everything All the Time is perhaps best known for its single “The Funeral,” which has been streamed more than 458 million times at Spotify. The song has been covered, sampled or reimagined by everyone from rappers Kid Cudi and Lil B to dance music artist/producer Gryffin.

“This album made all of my dreams come true,” says Band of Horses leader Ben Bridwell. “Forever grateful for the desperation that fueled its inspiration.”

The group will honor Everything All the Time with a spring tour, which begins April 9 in Portland, Me. Beforehand, Band of Horses will visit Sub Pop’s Seattle home base for an all-ages gig on March 19 at the Vera Project and a Mrch 21-22 stand at the Showbox.
