Author Colleen Hoover Clarifies Her Health After Sharing Cancer Diagnosis

It Ends With Us author Colleen Hoover is giving an update on her health after sharing her cancer diagnosis.

“Just clarification because of some misleading clickbait making it sound like I’m on my deathbed or something, but I do not have cancer anymore. I was diagnosed sometime last year, had surgery that was successful, just finished radiation yesterday,” Hoover, 46, wrote via Facebook on Friday, January 16.

She continued, “I am done and good and all is well and has been well. My doctors doctored. Hell yeah.”

Hoover announced on her Facebook in December 2025 that she had been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer, per a screenshot posted to Instagram by content creator Katyinck.

“I was in Canada most of the year filming Reminders of Him and had recurring health issues that I continued to put off until the movie was finished. When I returned home, I found out I had cancer,” she wrote at the time.

She continued, “Mine has since been removed through surgery and I’ll be undergoing some radiation which I will begin soon, but luckily I did not need chemo. So while it felt huge and scary for a bit, and I had to miss out on the Regretting You premiere and some other important career and personal moments, I just wasn’t ready to share with anyone until I knew what the outcome would be.”

Hoover went on to note that “despite all of this, [she’s] OK.”

“I’m relieved and lucky that it was a comparatively quick experience, so I feel silly even posting in the grand scheme of the world right now,” she wrote. “But I do feel the need to give the obligatory ‘listen to your body’ remark, because knowing something was off and dismissing it as being on set all day for months and in a new environment, it was so easy to ignore fatigue and other more serious symptoms.”

Colleen Hoover went from BookTok’s “It Girl” to Hollywood’s hottest get. The author is known for her emotional novels, but the books are making even more headway now that there are film adaptations in the works. Hoover’s most famous novel, perhaps, is It Ends With Us, which was originally published in 2016. Due to its […]

The next month, the author shared that she got results back from the geneticist that indicated her “cancer did not come from family genes.”

“It also didn’t come from the two main causes of the cancer, which are HPV and excessive hormones,” she wrote via Facebook earlier this month. “This means it was more than likely environmental/lifestyle, which is lack of exercise, poor diet and stress.”

She continued, “I’m happy and grateful to be alive, but I hate vegetables. I hate when I have to get off the couch. I hate sweating. I hate when science is right. If you see me at the gym, don’t even tell me good job. If you see me at a restaurant eating grilled chicken and drinking water, I’m probably real mad about it.”

Hoover, who has made headlines since 2024 amid It Ends With Us director and actor Justin Baldoni and costar Blake Lively’s legal battle, said she was undergoing her “second to last day of radiation” at Texas Oncology.

While sharing a photo of herself in a hospital gown via her Instagram Story, Hoover wrote, “I wish I could blame my hair and facial expressions on @texas.oncology, but they’ve been pretty great. Hope you never need them, but highly recommend them.”
