Kristin Cavallari was familiar with ex-husband Jay Cutler’s fiancée, Samantha Robertson, before the couple got together.
“I knew her before. So, I think that helped because I could, sort of, envision their dynamic,” Kristin, 38, revealed during the premiere episode of Honestly Cavallari: The Podcast Tour on Wednesday, June 4, during a conversation with Kim Zolciak.
Kim, 47, appeared as the first guest on Kristin’s “Let’s Be Honest” podcast tour in Atlanta. The two discussed their respective divorces before taking the stage, which was documented on the E! series.
Kristin went through a two-year divorce process before settling with ex-husband Jay, 42, in 2022. Kim shared that she and estranged husband Kroy Biermann, who split in 2023, are “almost” at the two-year mark in their divorce proceedings.
The former Real Housewives of Atlanta alum wondered how Kristin felt about “about Jay having somebody [new] around the kids,” which is what prompted the revelation about Samantha.
“That’s the only thing that I wonder how I’m going to feel,” Kim added.
Kristin and Jay share three kids, Camden, 12, Jaxon, 11, and Saylor, 9. The former couple had been divorced for more than a year when Jay went public with Samantha in September 2023. They got engaged one year later.
“Going through something messy in the public — like a divorce — I just know from my own personal experience,” Cavallari explained during her confessional, when discussing having Kim as a guest. “There’s always a certain narrative that’s out there. If someone wants to clear the air, or give their perspective, I’m happy to give that platform for it.”
She also offered more insight into her own split from Jay.
“I do not believe in staying together for the kids,” she said. “You have to have dark times to get to the good times. Divorce can be a really good thing.”
Kristin has been candid about struggling when it comes to coparenting with Jay.
“It’s been so up and down,” the Laguna Beach alum said on Bunnie XO’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast in December 2024. “Zero f***ing consistency, which is really hard. It has not been easy, to say the least.”
But it seems like Kristin and Jay have finally found their stride when it comes to coparenting.
“The kids kind of do it,” Jay told Us Weekly exclusively on Monday, June 2. “We’ve got our schedule, and it works for us.”
