LinkedIn Updates Video Embeds with ‘Video Only’ Option


LinkedIn’s rolled out some improvements to its post embedding process, which now enable you to embed video content in isolation, as opposed to having to attach the whole post on your website.

As reported by social media analyst Lindsey Gamble, LinkedIn has updated its post embeds with LinkedIn branding, along with the new video-only option.

As explained by LinkedIn:

We’ve made updates to ensure that LinkedIn posts you embed on third-party sites look more polished and are easier to interact with. These improvements include a cleaner design, a compact preview option, and clearer acknowledgement that the content comes from LinkedIn, helping you build trust with your audience.

It’s not a revolutionary change, but the capacity to embed video in isolation from the post is a beneficial one, especially for those who are looking to add contextually relevant video clips into the body of, say, a blog post.

Because when you’re writing a summary of an update (like this one), you don’t really want to have to embed a post that reiterates exactly what your post is about. As such, being able to include just the video is a more integrated solution.

So now, when you go to embed a LinkedIn post, you’ll be able to choose from three options:

  • Embed with less text
  • Embed entire post 
  • Embed video only

LinkedIn notes that you can’t embed posts with multiple photos, while only posts that an author has shared publicly can be embedded.

Barring these provisos, you now have some new presentation options for your LinkedIn post embeds. And with LinkedIn video on the rise, there may well be a lot of video options for contextual embeds on the platform, which will help to both add context, and promote LinkedIn’s video options.
