XXXTentacion‘s son just did his first interview, and what he had to say is both heartwarming and bittersweet.
Gekyume Is All Grown Up in New Interview
Scrolling through social media over the years has given some glimpses into the life of XXXTentacion’s 6-year-old son Gekyume. His mother shares darling moments of him regularly on her Instagram page while other family members have had him appear on their IG Lives. Now Gekyume is getting the chance to speak for himself in a new interview, and it’s the best thing you’ll see all day.
Content creator Brandon Sloane, whose become popular for his interviews with children inside retail stores, put the spotlight on Gekyume last Friday (April 18) when he connected with the child for a fun chat discussing Pokémon, his dad and rap.
Sloane gives XXXTentacion’s son free reign to pick out any toys he wants. Gekyume goes for Funko Pop! Pokémon Mimikyu and Greninja. So why did one of the internet’s favorite kids choose them? “To be a YouTuber,” he says. “I’m on YouTube, so that’s why I’m a YouTuber.” He’s got a serious goal to be one—10 billion days serious.
Gekyume also shares a special message for XXX (“I love him.”) and asks Sloane if he loves his own mom and dad. X’s son surprisingly tells the interviewer that his father went to the hospital and didn’t make it. XXXTentacion was shot and killed in 2018. While it may be startling to hear a young child share details like that about a deceased parent, it shows the understanding and maturity Gekyume has for his age.
Before their talk comes to a close, Gekyume challenges Sloane to a rap battle. The prize? $10. He ends up adding some singing to his rapping just like his dad. XXXTentacion would be proud.
