Tay-K was sentenced to 80 years in prison yesterday after being convicted of murder again.
Tay-K Learns His Sentence
On Tuesday (April 15), Tay-K was back in Bexar County Court in Texas to find out his sentence one day after the jury found the rapper guilty of murdering Mark Saldivar in 2017. Before the sentencing, Dr. John Fabian spoke to the jury about Tay-K’s mental health and he confirmed Tay had been diagnosed with ADHD and hyperactivity disorder and had been treated with Adderall for the condition in 2016. He also testified that Tay-K had pre-existing factors that may have contributed to him committing crimes, including maternal substance abuse, multi-generational trauma, family criminality and substance abuse. Tay-K’s sister also testified during the sentencing phase that the rapper was severely abused as a child.
After deliberating for several hours, the jury sentenced the embattled rapper to 80 years in prison. Following the jury’s ruling, Bexar County District Court Judge Stephanie Boyd made the decision that the sentence and his 2019 sentence for murder in Tarrant County, Texas, will be served concurrently. He was also given credit for time served.
“Any time you do in custody is a lot of time,” Judge Boyd told Tay-K in the video below. “But at the same token, you’re still alive. You can better yourself.”
Tay-K, born Taymor McIntyre, was initially facing one count of capital murder, which would have come with an automatic life sentence without the possibility of parole. However, the jury was given the option to find the rapper guilty of lesser charges of manslaughter and murder.
Tay-K was found guilty of shooting and killing 20-year-old Mark Saldivar on April 23, 2017, in a Chick-fil-A parking lot in San Antonio. During the trial, Tay-K’s ex-girlfriend testified to witnessing Tay-K shooting Saldivar and the rapper and other men tried to rob Saldivar of camera equipment.

Tay-K is already serving a 55-year sentence after being found guilty of murder and aggravated robbery in 2019 in connection to the killing of Ethan Walker in 2016. Tay-K jumped bail and was on the run from police when he shot and killed Saldivar and released his viral song “The Race,” which has over 250 million views on YouTube.
Tay-K is also accused of robbing and assaulting a 65-year-old man in an Arlington, Texas park while on the lam.
