Jason Momoa isn’t afraid to be a fanboy — especially when the star in question is Meryl Streep!
Nearly a month after he first shared snaps of himself dancing with the Oscar-winning actress, 75, at the SNL50: The Anniversary Special, Momoa, 45, revealed what really happened when the duo crossed paths behind the scenes of the “wild, crazy” show.
While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday, March 17 to promote his latest flick, A Minecraft Movie, Momoa talked about the Saturday Night Live anniversary special after host Jimmy Kimmel brought out one of the pictures of him and Streep.

After taking out a physical copy of one of the pics, which he pulled from Momoa’s Instagram, Kimmel, 57, asked, “What’s happening here?”
“I’m such a fanboy,” Momoa began, shaking his head. “So we’re at SNL50, which is a huge honor to be there, and what a wild, crazy night — I met so many people — and then Meryl Streep walked past me and my lady [girlfriend Adria Arjona] and I was just like, ‘Baby, it’s Meryl Streep.’ ”
The Aquaman star “was like ‘I got to go say something,’ and I walk up to her,” he recalled to Kimmel, “and she’s like, ‘Hi, Jason,’ and I was like, ‘F—, you know my name.’ ”
“I was like ‘Oh, my God, I love you so much.’ She’s like ‘I love you, too.’ I was like ‘What is happening?’ And the music’s playing. She started dancing. I start dancing,” Momoa recalled, adding that he thought to himself, “Someone, please take a photo please.”
And somebody did take a photo — at least two, actually — of the stars’ SNL50 encounter, though Momoa admitted that he can’t exactly remember what soundtracked the sweet moment.
“Do you remember what song you were dancing to?” asked Kimmel, and Momoa said, “I — no. No, I was just so stoked that Meryl Streep knew my name.”

Also on Kimmel, the Game of Thrones star recalled a different “fanboy” interaction he had at SNL50 — one that resulted in him snapping a group pic with SNL legends Chevy Chase and Bill Murray
“I was walking in,” he recalled “and this lady’s like, ‘Oh, my gosh, it’s Aquaman. Chevy, come here. And I’m like, ‘What is going on?’ Chevy Chase comes over and then Bill Murray’s walking by. She’s like, ‘Bill get over here.’ And I’m going like, ‘What’s happening?’ ”
So he, Chase, 81, and Murray, 74, snapped a photo together — though, unlike Streep, Momoa isn’t so sure that either actor knew who he was.
“Bill’s like, ‘Who the hell is this guy?’ I was like ‘I’m sorry,’” he told Kimmel, and later added that “they had no clue who I was” — but it didn’t matter to him. “I don’t care,” Momoa admitted. “I got that picture, that s—’s going on my wall.”

Momoa first shared his SNL50 recap post on Feb. 17, kicking it off with a snap of himself and Arjona, 32, in Studio 8H, and including his shots with Streep, Chase and Murray — plus Cher, Kristen Wiig, Anya Taylor-Joy and more stars in attendance.
“I AM SO GRATEFUL,” he wrote in the caption, in part. “Congratulations @nbcsnl OHANA. SNL50 what a magical 3 days. GREATEST SHOW OF ALL TIME My mind is blown.”
