Chris Hemsworth has faced many foes throughout his Hollywood career — from aliens and kidnappers to ghosts and Thanos. But one he has no need to fear? Amazon’s Alexa+.
The actor, 42, and his wife, Elsa Pataky, star in a new commercial for Amazon, set to air during the 2026 Super Bowl, in which he is convinced that Alexa+, now powered by generative AI, is plotting his demise.
At the start of the ad, Hemsworth walks indoors with a giant snake in his hand, totally unbothered. But when he hears Pataky, 49, in conversation with Alexa+, he panics, telling his wife they can’t use the technological tool because she will try to cause harm.
Alexa+ subsequently questions Hemsworth, asking, “Now, how would I do that?” and the father of three imagines several different scenarios in which the Amazon assistant could strike, including chopping his head off with a garage door or hiding him from others as he loses a fight to a bear outdoors.
However, Pataky tells her husband of 15 years that he is letting his imagination run wild, and after Alexa+ jokes, “You seem tense,” she books Hemsworth a massage with a cinnamon scrub. (“Wait, you can do that? I do love a cinnamon scrub,” the Avengers star even admits.)

Hemsworth tells PEOPLE he loved going in on the comedic tone of the Amazon commercial.
“There’s a self-deprecating quality to it, which lends itself to my sense of humor,” Hemsworth says. “I don’t mind being the joke in the scenario. I’m playing Chris Hemsworth, but the character of Chris Hemsworth.”

Pataky, for her part, says she enjoyed that the high-stakes antics of the ad mimic those her husband will include when he tells stories in real life.
“Chris is an amazing storyteller, … and his stories are a little bit like that — over the top — so [this commercial] felt really similar in that way,” she says, as Hemsworth teases: “Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.”
Amazon (2)
Hemsworth and Pataky use Amazon devices in their day-to-day lives, and Alexa+ — which the company describes as being a “smarter, more conversational and more capable” version of its technological feature — helps make everything much easier.
“You can actually ask for recipes. In your fridge, if you have a bunch of ingredients and you’re like, ‘Can you make me something with these ingredients?’ it actually does,” Pataky says.
“It helps a lot, especially in the house with three kids,” the model and actress, who shares her children — daughter India Rose and twin boys Sasha and Tristan — with Hemsworth, continues.
“It’s just nice getting extra support to that extent,” Hemsworth adds. “Being able to ask Alexa+ what the weather’s like or plan schedules or book something is fantastic. And there’s a greater amount of personality imbued in Alexa+ than the previous generation.”
Hemsworth and Pataky’s Amazon Alexa+ commercial will air during Super Bowl LX, which will take place between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on Sunday, Feb. 8.
