Billie Eilish Bumps 3D Concert Doc To May

Fans salivating for the upcoming James Cameron-directed Billie Eilish concert film will have to wait a bit longer. Per a social media post from Cameron, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR (LIVE IN 3D) is moving from a March 20 to May 8 release as “we’re refining the cut, dialing in cool, new 3D tech [and] adding some special behind-the-scenes we know you’ll love. Worth the wait!”

Eilish and Cameron were already seen pushing limit in the first trailer for the movie, which is being released by Paramount, Darkroom Records, Interscope Films and Lightstorm Entertainment. “We’re using tech that’s never been used before,” Cameron says in it at one point. “No one’s shot a concert film on this scale before.”

Last July, Eilish tipped off fans during a four-night run in Manchester, England, that there were “more cameras than usual” in the arena thanks to Cameron’s presence and that “I’ll probably be wearing this exact outfit for like four days in a row.” The pair co-directed THE TOUR together.

Elsewhere in the trailer, Eilish confronts touring without her brother and producer Finneas for the first time and gets emotional when reading a note from him that says, “it’s been the joy of my life to travel the world with you three times over and watch you hold every person who comes to your shows in the palm of your hand. Good luck tonight but you don’t need it. No one does it like you do.” Finneas later surprises his sister onstage in Manchester.

In the meantime, the Cameron-directed Avatar: Fire and Ash has spent the past three weeks atop the U.S. box office and has grossed $1.4 billion globally.

As for Eilish, her song “Wildflower” is nominated for both Record and Song of the Year at this weekend’s Grammy Awards.
