Wristwatch Release New Album ‘III’: Listen

Madison’s Wristwatch play a sharp-edged, high-strung form of garage punk, like the Buzzcocks meet Dark Thoughts. The vocals are theatrically forceful and piercing in a way that reminds me of Jay Reatard, and the band’s nervous-tension barrage brims with the mechanical intensity of a post-punk band without losing its fiery humanity.

It’s all tightly wound in a way that does indeed make me think of the gears in a clock, except these ones spin so fast that they constantly seem on the verge of spiraling out of control. I’m not sure any artist will ever displace MJ Lenderman in eliciting a Pavlovian musical response to the word wristwatch, but I sure am glad Rick in our Discord posted about these guys today. I suspect you’ll be glad too when you listen below.
