A lot of thought goes into getting a tattoo — after all, it’s permanent. That’s why when Matty Healy revealed his latest ink, Swifties couldn’t help but read between the lines.
On Wednesday, March 12, the 35-year-old English singer debuted a fresh tattoo on his knuckles: his fiancée Gabbriette Bechtel’s nickname in all-caps, written in a typewriter font.

While Healy likely intended it as a sweet tribute, some Taylor Swift fans immediately saw a connection to the 35-year-old pop sensation.
For those in the dark, Swift — who dated the 1975 frontman from May 2023 to June 2023 — famously referenced a typewriter in “The Tortured Poets Department,” a song widely believed to be about her former beau.
Fans wasted no time dropping Swift’s lyrics in the comments section of the “Chocolate” singer’s tattoo artist’s TikTok.
“Who uses typewriters anyway?!” one fan joked.
“You left your typewriter at my apartment,” another quoted.
“I think some things I never say,” someone else added.
Others were just in disbelief.
“The typewriter font is diabolical,” one person wrote.
“THE TYPEWRITER FONT STOP,” someone else demanded.
“This makes it so much worse,” another added.
Meanwhile, not everyone saw the big deal.
“Who cares about Taylor? Two people are in love and they’re sweet with each other,” one user commented.
This isn’t the first time Swifties have zeroed in on Healy’s life post-Swift. When the rocker got engaged to Bechtel, 27, in June 2024, fans linked it to a “TTPD” lyric that seemed to reference a moment between Healy and Swift.
“At dinner, you take my ring off my middle finger / And put it on the one people put wedding rings on / And that’s the closest I’ve come to my heart exploding,” the Grammy winner sings in the song.
Some fans couldn’t help but speculate that Swift once had a fleeting “what-if” moment with Healy — only for him to propose to someone else less than a year later. “Poor taylor imagine a guy who takes your ring off your middle finger and puts it on the one people put wedding rings on doesnt marry you but then goes on to marry someone else,” one person posted on X (formerly Twitter) at the time.
