Bad History Month Covers Dust From 1000 Years’ “The Fighters”: Listen

Every few months you can count on Bad History Month’s Bandcamp page to update with some high-quality artisanal small-batch indie rock. Recently, that has involved a lot of covers of the same band. On his PIGWORLD series, Sean Sprecher has been recording songs by Dust From 1000 Years, the longstanding alias of Ben Rector, who Sprecher describes as “my roommate/bandmate/coworker/comrade.” Today, he offers a preview of PIGWORLD 3 that doubles as a benefit for Rector.

As Sprecher explains in the Bandcamp description for his new The Fighters EP, Rector — pictured in the above cover art — recently suffered a bad accident:

You might have heard that the famous duck photographer got in a fight w gravity a couple weeks ago and is semi out-of-service for a couple months (surgery), plus our job’s closed for january, plus foodstamps got cut, you know how it is w/ rainy days.

To raise funds for Rector, Bad History Month will release The Fighters on Christmas. It leads off with Sprecher’s cover of Dust’s 2010 track “The Fighters,” followed by two alternate versions and two remixes of another song, “Look At My Knife.” Hear the main song below and buy the EP here.
