Geese Cover The Stooges, Leonard Cohen, & More In NYC

Geese’s new album Getting Killed is undoubtedly awesome, but in this economy, you don’t become the buzziest band in Brooklyn just by putting out an awesome album. Amid the Getting Killed hype, Cameron Winter and company have also earned a reputation for their covers over the past few months, whether they’re doing a Springsteen hit for an Xbox commercial or going viral for a live studio rendition of New Radicals’ “You Get What You Give.” Geese are playing a pair of proper hometown shows later this week, but first, they took over Manhattan’s famed Blue Note Jazz Club last night for an intimate set that featured no Geese songs at all.

The show was exclusively for Chase cardholders, but the covers-only setlist was replete with counterculture classics. Geese did the Velvet Underground’s “I’m Waiting For The Man” and a ton of Stooges songs (as is their wont), plus Leonard Cohen’s “Suzanne,” Suicide’s “Ghost Rider,” and Pink Floyd’s “Interstellar Overdrive.” See some clips from the audience and the full setlist below.
