Miley Cyrus Is Cleaning Up ‘Every Friendship’ and ‘Family Dynamic’ in Her Life

In an interview with Vogue to promote her new Maybelline campaign, the Grammy winner, 32, spoke about spending time organizing clothes, awards and other objects from her career, noting how she’s been doing the same in many areas of her life.

“I am joyful when I’m organizing and cleaning — it never feels like a task to me,” Cyrus told the outlet. “Everything I do in my life is a little bit intense, but it has to be holistic. And that’s why my eras, they’re not a costume, they’re actually like a metamorphosis or a true evolution for me personally.”

The “Flowers” singer continued, “I’ve even gained the name Queen of Pristine because in every corner, every drawer, every friendship, every family dynamic, everything is just getting an upgrade in the cleanup.”

Miley recently opened up about a particular “family dynamic” between her and father Billy Ray Cyrus. Last week, she released an emotional ballad called “Secrets” that nods toward past tension in their relationship.

“This song was written as a peace offering for someone I had lost for a time but always loved,” Miley wrote on Instagram. “In my experience, forgiveness and freedom are one and the same.”

“This song is for my dad,” she continued of the song, which features Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood.

“Hero/ Can I be your hero?/ Call off all your forces/ A white flag in the war,” she sings on the track, later adding: “Love is not a prison/ I’m not a guard, no/ So even when I’m holding you/ I won’t lock you up/ You can come and go as you want.”

Billy Ray, 64, previously referenced the song in August, sharing on Instagram, “For my birthday, Miley gave me the gift of music and wrote me a song called Secrets and got my favorite musicians Fleetwood Mac to play on it! I love you Mile ❤️.”

Miley first opened up about the track n a June interview on Monica Lewinsky’s podcast. “I wrote this song about my dad, because I wanted him to tell me even though there were secrets, even though I didn’t really want to know,” she said at the time.

“I wanted to be the one he felt safe enough to tell me the things that were damning and damaging to the family. I wanted him to think that as a middle child, I’m old enough that I could take some of that,” continued the Something Beautiful artist.
