Something In The Way Fest Nabs SDRE, Explosions In The Sky

Sunny Day Real Estate and Explosions in the Sky will anchor the 2026 incarnation of the Something in the Way festival, which will overtake Roadrunner in Boston on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. The event is presented by Run for Cover Records and promoter the Bowery Presents.

Also set to perform at Something in the Water are Momma, the Hotelier, Tigers Jaw, Pelican, Citizen, Angel Du$t, Horse Jumper of Love, Pool Kids and Sheer Mag. Tickets are available for presale tomorrow (Sept. 23) and go on sale to the general public on Friday.

This is Sunny Day Real Estate’s first announced show of 2026 and extends the beloved Seattle band’s reunion that was first launched four years ago. As for the Hotelier, the group has been touring semi-regularly since 2023 after a five-year break, but has yet to release new music since 2016’s acclaimed Goodness.

Named after a song from Nirvana’s 1991 album Nevermind, Something in the Way was inaugurated in 2016 and featured Alex G, Modern Baseball, Basement, Turnover and Nothing, along with Citizen. The event came back to life this year with a bill anchored by Slowdive, Balanace and Composure, American Football, Soccer Mommy, Mannequin Pussy and Militarie Gun.
