“We’re gonna go back to the schedule that we had, we’re gonna go out to these radio stations, we’re gonna keep going back out and playing shows,” he shared. “My mom was real excited about all the opportunities and all the music, and I hope that you all are just as excited about it as she was.”
Holly, a Virginia schoolteacher, died Aug. 3 at age 62 after an intruder—whom police later identified as 41-year-old Kevin Walker—entered her home and fatally stabbed her, according to Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson. Walker then attacked her husband Michael Hatcher, who retrieved a handgun from his car during the altercation and fired a single shot, killing the trespasser.
“There’s no way for you to know the trauma and the pain and the unanswered questions that I have had [and] that my three sons, Dane, Spencer and Connor have had,” Michael said in a joint video statement with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office days after the incident. “Each of you have made it much more bearable through your outpouring of love and your caring and your kindness and support to all of us, and for that, I thank you so much.”
